Hey y'all! Just a quick post to say how very excited I am at this moment. My practicum posting is a dream...I will be teaching my minor, General Science this time around, primarily in a Grade 7 AP Science class (yes, at Gray Academy they start to differentiate those who are good at Science/Math/English in Grade 7, although come Grade 12, nobody in the advanced class is obligated to write the Advanced Placement exams). My CT is great; he challenges the kids while keeping a very fun, open, student-centred classroom dynamic. And of course, the kids are amazing - they are motivated and highly intelligent (at lease in the verbal/written/mathematical sense, perhaps others). I am looking forward to challenging them in ways they may not have been challenged before, and getting them excited about the things I am teaching. In another classroom, those may be idealistic, totally impractical goals, but here I think they are quite possible.
Good luck everyone, keep in touch.
Chris
